This 1972 MG Midget MKIII is one of the finest examples of the classic MG you will find. This is rare RUST FREE find. I think less than 1% of MGs can boast this. It is also the most desirable and most valuable of the Midget lineup due to the Round Wheel Arches and the chrome bumpers only found on the 71-73 lineup. This car runs, drives, starts up great. This car was restored in late 1999 and finished in 2001. This car is a great looking car and while not in showroom condition, it is well above average. There are some small flaws, nothing major, but what you can expect out of a 37 year old car.
Body:
The Rust Free body is in great shape and was painted during restoration in 1999. Paint is a solid 8.5 out of 10. There is a 3cm chip over the driver side tire as well as your usual stone chips from driving although minor. Chrome is in good shape. There is no pitting, but could use a good polishing to really shine, There is a new chrome luggage rack on the boot (trunk) and features custom painted Rostyle wheels with brand new Kumho tires. The car has a newer soft top, soft top cover, tonneau cover, and rare removable hard top. The hard top has good glass but needs to be refinished.
Interior
The interior is in great shape, with all original gages and seats. The passenger seat has two small tears on the upper seam but can be very easily fixed with a needle and some black thread. The steering wheel is a Mountny wood wheel, I had shipped over from England, and also has the wood shift knob. The stereo is a Pioneer with AM/FM/CD/MP3 with iPod intergration. Speakers are Alpine woofer tweeter combos with crossover. You can actually hear them when driving with the top down! Speakers alone where over $300.
Drivetrain
This car is powered by the 1275cc A-series engine, with the 4 speed ribcase transmission. With syncromesh in gears 2, 3, and 4 There is a Weber single carb conversion, that means no more syncing and maintaining those SU carbs! I do have the original carbs and manifold if wanted. Also is a new Monza 3 to 1 performance header and down tube, Stainless exhaust from down tube to Monza performance dual muffler. Car needs a fuel tank sending unit however there is also a new electric fuel pump. I will include a brand new SU electric fuel pump as well, never used still in the box.
